Ozeri Frying Pan Review

November 3, 2013
I have always enjoyed cooking fresh dishes from scratch. To me nothing tastes better than something you have cooked yourself and I can’t wait until our girls are old enough to help me make our own little pizzas!

When I was given the chance to review an Ozeri Frying Pan I was delighted. I thought the best way to review this item would be to show you how to cook one of my favourite slow cooker dishes.

Lemon Chicken (aka Chicken Tagine)

Inspired by Twin Daddy and I’s holiday to Marrakech before our daughters were born, this recipe is full of flavour and is so easy to cook. I was sent an 8 inch (20cm) frying pan, which is a bit small for our cooking requirements as a family of four, but if you cook for one or two people it’s perfect!

Ingredients

As I’m not a professional chef I don’t actually use measurements when I cook! I guess at how much I need and I haven’t been wrong yet! I would suggest altering the amounts to suit the size of your family.
  • Potatoes
  • Carrots
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 Chicken leg per person
  • Turmeric
  • Ginger
  • Olive oil
  • Chicken stock cubes
  • Olives
I prefer to use chicken legs, however on this occasion our local supermarket only had thighs, but you can use whichever you prefer. Also with the olives I tend to go for pimento stuffed ones.

Method
  • Cut the potatoes and carrots up into small cubes and place into the bottom of your slow cooker and season with salt
  • Dice the onion and using a garlic press crush the garlic. Add both to your slow cooker

  • Finely grate the zest of the lemon and then cut the lemon in half. Squeeze the juice from one half of the lemon and then cut the other half of the lemon into approximately four thin slices
  • Season the chicken with ginger and turmeric and fry until golden brown. Put the chicken on top of the vegetables in your slow cooker
  • Using 2 stock cubes add them to a jug of boiling water and stir well
  • Add the juices left from your frying pan to your chicken stock and stir in the lemon zest. Pour over your chicken and vegetables in the slow cooker
  • Top the chicken with lemon slices and olives
  • Cook on low for six to seven hours until the chicken is tender
  • Serve and enjoy a little taste of heaven!

About the Ozeri Frying Pan

  • Utilizes an ultra-safe ceramic coating derived from nature which is 100% PTFE and PFOA free
  • Delivers unprecedented non-stick performance without releasing harmful fumes or toxins at high temperatures
  • Features a scratch-resistant 100 ceramic coating as found in nature (no heavy metals or chemicals) that is super easy to clean
  • Made out of durable heavy-gauge pure aluminum with no heavy metals or harmful chemicals
  • Boasts a comfortable heat resistant Bakelight handle, and a magnetized induction stove safe base for rapid heat transfer
My favourite thing about this frying pan, other than the wonderful, bright green colour is the handle. It’s comfortable to hold and it doesn’t get hot. For the results the instructions do advise to only use a small amount of oil, which is what I did and although I used less oil than I usually would in cooking this recipe I actually noticed a positive difference in the taste.
The frying pan is easy and light weight to use plus the non-stick performance did ensure that my chicken didn’t stick to the pan resulting in the chicken being perfectly cooked all over.
Cleaning the frying pan was easy. I didn’t have to scrub to get any leftover residue off as it more or less just rinsed off. This pan is well made and I would definitely recommend it.
For the purpose of this review we were sent one Ozeri Frying Pan
