This year we spent our Christmas Day at home. We didn’t want to rush out anywhere and we had such a lovely day.
On Christmas Eve my husband and I brought the girls presents down from the wardrobe in our bedroom and just as we were going to put them all under the tree, M woke up!
I did a mad dash to move all of the presents from our front room to another room whilst my husband brought M downstairs to sleep on the sofa.
We think she’s scared of the dark so every night at some point or another she’ll end up on our sofa with us until we go bed when we bring her up with us.
When she’d nodded back off to sleep, we very quietly brought their presents back in!
If only she knew what was right next to her!
I filled the girls stockings and my husband used flour to make some ‘Santa’ footprints on the carpet.
Soon it was time to go up to bed and as we did I left the girls stockings at the end of their beds.
The girls woke around 6.30am on Christmas morning and hurriedly ran from our bed to their bedroom to see if Santa had filled their stockings. He had! Phew!
We sat and watched as the girls emptied the contents of their stockings onto our bed!
We then went downstairs. The girls faces lit up when they saw that Santa had left them presents and they thought it was brilliant that he’d left snowy footprints on our carpets!
They checked the dish we’d left out and saw that Santa had drunk all of his milk, had a bite of his cookie and mince pie, and even the reindeers had some of their carrots!
It didn’t take long for the girls to get through their presents! They really liked everything they received and were very good girls in saying thank you to Santa.
We had a lovely leisurely morning before my husband picked his mum up. She spent the day with us and have Christmas dinner.
After food, my husbands three children came over to see us and we had a lovely time. My homemade apple pie went down a treat with the mother-in-law and my homemade Christmas cake went down a treat with my husband and I when everyone was in bed!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
