Luxury Holiday Destinations To Set Your Pulse Racing
Where is the most luxurious place that you have been on holiday? I would have to say that the most luxurious place I have ever been on holiday is Marrakech.
Marrakech is a city in western Morocco that’s home to mosques, palaces and gardens. During my holiday, which was a good few years ago now, I visited the beautiful Jardin Majorelle. It’s one of the most visited places in Marrakech and it’s easy to see why. The Majorelle Garden is a two and a half acre botanical garden. It was created by the French Orientalist artist, Jacques Majorelle over almost forty years, starting in 1923, and features a Cubist villa designed by the French architect, Paul Sinoir in the 1930s.
My husband and I stayed in a breathtaking riad right in the middle of all of the hustle and bustle Marrakech is full of. Yet, when we stepped over the threshold into the riad, it was so peaceful, quiet and tranquil. So much so that it was hard to believe that just outside were thriving souks selling the most wonderful, colourful traditional textiles, pottery and jewellery.
Marrakech is certainly a holiday that I will never forget. With that in mind, I’ve been looking at what other luxurious holiday destinations are around. Sri Lanka has been on my travel bucket list for as long as I can remember. When I was in school, a friend of mine went on holiday there and I thought that was so exotic! After all, my family holidays were usually in Spain or a tent on a UK camp site so what would be better than a Sri Lanka luxury getaway.
If you didn’t know, Sri Lanka is an island country in South Asia, located in the Indian Ocean southwest of the Bay of Bengal and southeast of the Arabian Sea.
Its overflowing with natural wonders, abundant wildlife, sumptuous cuisine, ancient UNESCO World Heritage sites and a rich cultural legacy. Of course Sri Lanka is also known for its golden sands and national parks that are home to some of the best birding and wildlife in Asia. Therefore it’s no wonder that Sri Lanka is a popular destination for those looking for a little luxury.
Now, moving on, I can’t talk about luxury holidays without mentioning the Caribbean. When I was a child, my parents were very lucky. They won a holiday to the Caribbean island of Antigua. Upon my parents return, I remember thinking how relaxed and sun kissed my parents looked!
Of course the Caribbean is considered by many people as a luxury holiday destination. With white sandy beaches and crystal clear seas it’s somewhere I’ve often dreamt of going. If you read my blog regularly you’ll know that I’m very much into trying to be as a eco-friendly as possible so when I read that the Caribbean offers overwater “eco-resorts” I was very pleased!
These beautiful Caribbean overwater bungalows even come with a personal butler service! If you ask me it doesn’t get anymore luxurious than that! You can choose from a range of Caribbean destinations such as the South Pacific, Bora Bora or even the Maldives to name a few.
