Izzy Explores the Jungle Book Review

November 20, 2014
I’ve been trying to find time to read more to my children. With twins it’s often hard to find the time as quite often they both want to do different things.
I find the best time to read to them is after they’ve had their lunch. They have full tummies and will be ready for some quiet time after a usually busy morning.

Izzy Explores is the first in a series of stories involving this intrepid little girl and her friendly monkey to come from author Martin Wallace. Izzy will see all the wonders of her environment spanning a series of books before heading off to a new location to discover more adventures.
R and M really enjoy listening to me reading this story to them. It’s simple and easy for them to understand, plus the illustrations help to keep their interest. Although I do think Izzy could do with some pupils as her eyes come across a bit vacant and creepy to me! This also goes for some of the other characters too, but it doesn’t seem to bother either of my girls! In fact they love Peter the monkey!

Each page has just a sentence or two on so it’s easy for young readers to get grips with too. As we follow Izzy as she explores the jungle she meets a range of characters along the way and her interactions with them are always fun!

Overall, this was an enjoyable book to read and we can’t wait to see what Izzy gets up to next!

For the purpose of this review we were sent a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% my own.
