Innovation at it’s finest. My favourite running gadgets.

May 28, 2017

Over the course of the past year, I’ve found myself becoming more and more obsessed with running.

A friend of mine told me that once I started running, it wouldn’t be long before I caught the ‘running bug’. Initially I dismissed this idea, but now I have to agree with her and say that I’ve well and truly caught the running bug!

At the beginning of last year I struggled to run 1k, so I’m pretty proud of the fact that today I ran 5k and got a new PB of 30 minutes 17 seconds. That’s non-stop running at a pretty good pace!

I took part in a 10k earlier this year, but I think it’s fair to say that I didn’t train for it properly. However, I like a challenge so have signed up for two more 10k’s this year and my training is well under way.

I’ve increased my running distance to an average of 6k so I’m only 4k away to achieving a continuous 10k run. My time may not be the best in the world to start with, but with practise and dedication I’m hoping to improve on this.

My goal is to one day run a full-marathon, but I know that I need to comfortably be able to run 10k first and then I can look at training for a half marathon then a full marathon. I understand this is going to take some time though!

One thing that I love are my gadgets and that’s why I’ve been searching online for some innovative running technology to help me with my training.

Thanks to the Innovation Company for helping me with this post!

First up we have the TomTom Runner 3. This is a GPS watch, but it’s not just for runners. Cyclists, swimmers, treadmill pounders, gym goers, spin masters and freestyle heroes can also make the most of the TomTom Runner 3. I use mine to help me gauge the pace that I’m running at. By displaying the pace on the screen, I can work out if I’ve started too fast or if I need to pick up the pace a bit. You can also upload our own routes, which is one of my favourite features.

Next up is another TomTom product. The TomTom Bluetooth Headset is the perfect headset is perfect to listen to music on the go without any wires getting in the way. Simply connect to your phone via bluetooth and you’re off. I also like that the volume controls are on the ear piece making changing the volume on the go as easy as clicking a button.

Although this one isn’t a gadget, you can download it to a gadget! I use the Nike+ Running App on my iPhone. It’s another great way to monitor your running, but also to see you how your friends progressing as you can add them as friends. You can also set challenges and complete various training programmes depending on your goal.

So those are my three favourite innovative gadgets. Do you have a favourite gadget? I’d love to hear from you!
