How To Protect Your Car From Theft Or Damage

February 10, 2023

A car isn’t a cheap commodity and so it’s important to do what you can in order to prevent it from getting damaged or from theft. Protecting your car can be done in a manner of ways but it’s often not the case for those who feel that car damage or theft wouldn’t happen to them.

With that in mind, here are some top tips to protect your car from theft or damage this year.

Keep it locked away

To help ensure your car is protected at all times, avoid parking it anywhere where it’s visible. While it might seem like it’s safe to park up with other cars on a public road, it’s more at risk than it would be locked away in a garage.

Not everyone uses their garage anymore as a car storage space but they should if they want to avoid it from being stolen. Even with cameras fixed on the car outside your home, it’s not going to deter some would-be criminals from attempting to break into the car and drive off with it. So for precautionary measures, keep it locked away.

Get a transponder key

To help avoid any car being stolen, it’s good to have a key that you can use to help avoid any hot wiring from occurring. That’s how criminals are able to get away with the car. A transponder key replacement is worth getting when it’s required and you want to help add that extra level of security to your valuable vehicles.

This is something that you should be doing with all your cars and vehicles that won’t fit into the garage you have at home.

Keep all valuables in the car hidden and out of sight

When you’re keeping valuables in your car, it’s important to make sure that they’re put away and that they’re hidden, out of sight from view. This is only going to put a bigger target on your car for theft, even if they don’t intend to drive away with the car. They may be after what they can get inside the car that’s valuable, like a dash cam or a phone that’s been left in there by mistake.

Whatever you’re leaving in the car, be sure to keep it hidden or risk it getting stolen and your car getting damaged.

Be on the lookout for carjackers

Carjackers are those who will take their chances and try to nab your car when you’re unaware. Whether that’s while filling up the gas, or threatening you by opening your door at a stop light and dragging you out to get into the vehicle.

Be aware of carjackers by keeping an eye out when you’re pulled up at a stop or somewhere where someone could easily jump you or steal the car from under your nose. Keep the car doors locked and be prepared to escape in the car if you feel threatened.

The reality is that anyone can have a stroke of bad luck so it’s important to do what you can to avoid damage being done to your car of any kind.
