GIFTED| K’Nex K-Force Battle Bow Building Set & K’Nex Beginner 40 Model Building Set Review

Keeping the children busy and entertained during half term can be tough. Even more so when you’re trying to work from home! Thankfully I was sent some K’Nex sets for my children and they have been a life saver!

We received the K’Nex K-Force Battle Bow Building Set and the K’Nex Beginner 40 Model Building Set to review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

K’Nex K-Force Battle Bow Building Set

The K’Nex K-Force Battle Bow Building Set is aimed at children aged eight and over. It’s ideal for encouraging independent play as children can either build their own creations or use the easy step-by-step manual to create a cool dart blaster.

My daughter decided to make the dart blaster, aka the battle bow. The piece are packaged safely in the box to stop them from escaping upon opening.

Everything you need to make the battle bow is included in the box along with five soft foam darts that can be fired up to 75 feet. There’s also a blaster chamber, a quick fit grip, a preload ring and two dart holders.

We really like how different all of the pieces are. In particular my daughter loved how bendy the bright yellow pieces were. I don’t think I’ve come across a construction style toy before that has pieces that bend like this.

There are 165 classic pieces to choose from and you can build a variety of four different blasters and target models at one time. The instructions included are to make the battle bow. You can also download the free instructions for the other three blasters and the target models from the K’Nex website.

The pieces connect together using the plastic rods and connectors to customise, design and build any dart blaster and target model you can imagine.

I love how easy the instructions are to follow. My daughter is nine years old and she made most of it herself by following the instructions. Some of the pieces were a tad fiddly to put together so I had to help with these, but my daughter made most of it herself and she’s very pleased with the end result!

The K’Nex Battle Bow is super easy to use. With a simply squeeze of the trigger, one of the soft foam darts is realised. We also really like the dart holder to keep the darts safe and secure while not in use.

K’Nex Beginner 40 Model Building Set

My other nine year old daughter decided to play with this K’Nex set. It’s aimed at children aged five and over. This set features all-new easy-build parts that allow children to have a frustration-free building experience.

This set contains 141 parts and easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions and ideas for 40 different models.

Your child can also use the parts to design and create from their own imagination. My daughter started by making some of the designs from the instructions.

The new parts included are a barbell shaped rod that easily sandwiches between two connectors, and a flat panel piece that provides structural support. These were specifically designed to address the needs of younger builders, who can easily build 2 flat shapes and then connect them together into a 3-D creation! Plus, newly designed wheels pop right on – they’ll be on the go in no time!

Building with K’NEX supports a child’s developmental growth and puts them on a path towards a better understanding of STEM subjects. As they fit the pieces together, they’re developing spatial awareness and honing their fine motor and dexterity skills. Final Thoughts

Both of the K’Nex sets have been well thought out. I especially like the idea of ‘frustration free’ building for younger children. The pieces are well made and I love the new barbell shaped rods as they really do make connecting two pieces together really easy. The range of different designs in the booklets are a great starting point for children and as they grow older they can have fun making their own designs and creations.
