Hello and welcome to the Brilliant Mum Feature. Once a week I will be featuring one mum in a bid to find out more about them and their lives.
If you’d like to take part in this series, simply fill in this form.
This week our brilliant mum feature is Katy who blogs at Katy Kicker.
Katy is 30 years old, and is from Essex. She’s a full-time blogger, and has a 2 year old. She’s married, and in her spare time she loves helping charities, spending time with family, baking and reading a good book.
Thanks for taking part Katy!
Have you always wanted to be a mum?
Yes! It took 7 years to conceive my daughter.
How did you feel when your children were born?
My daughter’s birth was a semi-urgent c-section and when they lifted her up into the air my first words were that she had made it! I was so proud of my body for helping us to have a baby and making it through everything.
What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?
Helping find a diagnosis for my daughter, how has FPIES, and helping her stop being in hospital repeatedly and being so ill.
Also, just watching my daughter grow feels like a reward every single day.
What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?
When my daughter was little she had an undiagnosed condition – so she would regularly projectile vomit.
When I think back to some of the places this happened I just laugh and laugh now, but at the time it was awful!
Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?
When my daughter was first born my Father passed away. I found my grief hard to deal with and suffered from PND.
What are your dreams and hopes for your children?
I hope that my daughter is happy and healthy. That will be more than enough for me.
