Brilliant Mum Feature Week 68
Hello and welcome to the Brilliant Mum Feature. Once a week I will be featuring one mum in a bid to find out more about them and their lives.

This week our brilliant mum feature is Amy from All About A Mummy.
Amy lives just outside the M25 in a nice green bit of the Surrey Countryside. She’s been married for 10 years this year and has two daughters aged 7 and 4. Amy works freelance from home as a PR and Marketing consultant which she says is great because she gets to fit work around the kids, but can be hard fitting everything in. Her main passions are art, cooking and reading. If she’s not working or sorting out the kids, Amy says you’ll find her doing one of the three!

Have you always wanted to be a mum?
Yes. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want kids.
How did you feel when your children were born?
Well my first’s birth was traumatic which left me with PTSD and a chronic pain condition. Despite that the bond with my baby was so strong. Actually it is what got me through the first year. Second was an elective C section which was a much more positive experience and I was lucky to bond with baby straight away for a second time.
What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?
Seeing my kids happy is the main reward. My eldest is at school so it is wonderful to see her blossom and grow as she learns.
What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?
It feels like something funny happens everyday! I went to a wedding in the early days and forgot my breast pump. My Mum has to drive baby over so I could feed her in the car to get rid of some pressure! Luckily we were only an hour away from home!
Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?
Both my children had medical conditions when they were born and the youngest has persisted to the point where we are under GOSH. At times I have felt overwhelmed by the worry and the pressure of looking after an unwell child. Hopefully my youngest is growing out of her problems now and we are very lucky things haven’t been worse.
What are your dreams and hopes for your children?
I dream they will be happy, successful and (as girls) free from the constraints society puts on women. I hope they will look back on their childhood with smiles and happy memories.
