Brilliant Mum Feature Week 62
Hello and welcome to the Brilliant Mum Feature. Once a week I will be featuring one mum in a bid to find out more about them and their lives.

This week our brilliant mum feature is Suzy who blogs at Our Bucket List Lives. Suzy lives in Lincolnshire, she’s 42, and is a blogger which is how she earns money (not a lot though she says!). Suzy has one son (4), and she’s married. Suzy loves travelling and seeing the UK, and the world in any spare time she has.

Have you always wanted to be a mum?
Not until my 30’s. By then I’d left it a bit late and fibroids had taken over. After a lot of operations and a lot of IVF we finally had Jamie. It took around 4 operations to sort my fibroids out and 4 rounds of IVF. I was about ready to give up by IVF #4 which would have been very hard for me to deal with after everything we’d been through. Luckily it worked.
How did you feel when your children were born?
It was difficult for me. I nearly died when I had him due to complications. I didn’t get to see him for 24 hours and it was so strange for me. I felt so poorly and I couldn’t get out of bed for 3 days. It certainly wasn’t the birth I was hoping for but he is here and that’s the main thing. I had an attached placenta. Which meant it was low lying and attached in a secondary place to where it should have been. I bled late on in pregnancy and spent over a week in hospital. We lived too far from the hospital so I ended up staying in a hotel nearby, with my parents, for the final two weeks of pregnancy. Because of the complications I had to have him via a general. I was so scared when they put me to sleep, I was crying so much and I’m used to generals. I just felt so guilty and so worried.
What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?
How sweet and kind he is. Also how loving he is. He is often kissing, cuddling me and telling me how much he loves me. There’s nothing quite like it. I’m so lucky to have such a caring little boy.
What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?
Not especially funny but I still have baby brain and I’m often forgetting things.
Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?
Mostly he is very good and well behaved. I struggle to cope with him getting upset about minor injuries. He can be a bit on the over dramatic side and I struggle to feel sympathetic about a small bump or a cut that’s about 1cm long (if that).
What are your dreams and hopes for your children?
To be happy and to have a good job and a loving family around him.
