Brilliant Mum Feature Week 54

April 26, 2018

Hello and welcome to the Brilliant Mum Feature. Once a week I will be featuring one mum in a bid to find out more about them and their lives.

If you’d like to take part in this series, simply fill in this form.

Brilliant Mum Feature

This week our brilliant mum feature is Gemma who blogs at Mummy’s Waisted.

Gemma is 34 years old and has been with her husband for 20 years, married for 8.5 years, with two children (son 5 and daughter 2.5). Gemma works in internet marketing/blogging, and says she doesn’t get much spare time at the moment, but she likes to read and watch thrillers.

Thanks for taking part Gemma!

Have you always wanted to be a mum?

No, it wasn’t until my late twenties that I felt maternal at all (and probably not as much as a lot of people)

How did you feel when your children were born?

Relief, that they were OK! Son was natural birth all pretty normal really, daughter was planned c-section (she was breech) and had the cord round her neck three times!

What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?

Seeing my children growing and developing their own personalities, inheriting the good traits from my husband and I (and some of the not so good, but we can work on that!)

What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?

I was upstairs having a shower and my son (just turned 2) decided to pour his own bowl of cereal, resulting in a whole box of cereal on the floor but he was so pleased with himself!

Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?

My daughter’s stubbornness! (which she absolutely gets from me) I just feel completely powerless, and try to stay calm when she just won’t get dressed / go up for bath / put her shoes on.

What are your dreams and hopes for your children?

That they grow up to be happy and healthy, knowing that they are loved by us and their extended family.
