Brilliant Mum Feature Week 50
Hello and welcome to the Brilliant Mum Feature. Once a week I will be featuring one mum in a bid to find out more about them and their lives.

This week our brilliant mum feature is Orla who blogs at Orla The Irish Mammy.
Orla is from Newbridge in Kildare and is 34 years old. She’s a first time mammy to Ruby Rose who is two and a half years old. Orla is a music teacher, but iscurrently studying for a level 6 in advanced Montessori. Orla says all going well she’ll be finished in February. Orla is engaged to her partner, Andy, and has been for well over a year now, but they have no plans to tie the knot just yet! Orla loves to do anything crafty in her spare time.

Have you always wanted to be a mum?
Yes, 100%.
How did you feel when your children were born?
Overwhelmed. I couldn’t believe I did it. We had a long hard birth and Ruby was very poorly after. She was kept in the high dependency ward for a week after the birth and thrn she was in crumblin children’s hospital for a further 4 days.
What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?
Hearing her talk! Hearing her put sentences together and being able to understand them. I love seeing her little personality develop too. She’s a funny little lady.
What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?
Oh gosh. I actually can’t think!! I’m sure there are lots of funny moments! I’m well aware that its probably happened to every mother out there; but I went around for a whole day (shopping, up town, the works!) With baby vomit the whole way down the back of my leg….no told me!!
Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?
When Ruby was really ill after the birth. I found that really hard. Everything was up in the air and it was very difficult to get the doctors to clearly explain what was happening. I was exhausted too which didn’t help the situation.
What are your dreams and hopes for your children?
I want her to be happy and safe. I want her to be confortable and confident in herself and to know that she can do anything at all if she puts her mind to it and works hard. I want her to know that her parents will support her in what ever she choses to persue in life.
