Brilliant Mum Feature

This week our brilliant mum feature is Michelle who blogs at The Willow Tree.

Michelle is a Solihull based Mum to three children aged 1,4 and 7. She’s been married for nearly 9 years (together 15 years!), and she loves family days out, blogging, reading, oh and a cheeky cocktail! Michelle is a part time working mum and works as a social worker, as well as blogging.

Thanks for taking part Michelle!

Have you always wanted to be a mum?

Most definitely! From an early age I just knew I wanted to be a Mama. I feared I couldn’t or wouldn’t have children and worried a lot that I would never achieve this in my life.

How did you feel when your children were born?

Each birth was VERY different. My first birth I was physically mentally and emotionally exhausted and my first thought was ‘thank **** for that!’ It was quite traumatic in that my so had to go into NiCU and I was separated from him. All was eventually well but my overall experience was sad and terrifying. My second and third births were along easier, simpler and quicker!

What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?

A simple ‘I love you ‘ is more to gab enough to make me feel rewarded in what I do. Juggling work life and home life is tough and as long as my kids are happy and love me, then I’m happy.

What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?

Well since being pregnant with my First I have had continuous ‘baby brain’ or shall I say ‘Mum brain’. Often I’m putting cooked meals into the fridge, getting my children’s names mixed up and generally being an airhead!

Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?

Sleep deprivation with my third was tough going – surviving of lack of sleep and caring for three children was so tiring and at times I felt really sad.

What are your dreams and hopes for your children?

Happiness, good health and well-being and I hope they al live life to the full whatever they chose to do!
