Ah I love the sound of that song! I’m so excited to see the new Beauty and the Beast film starring Emma Watson! It’s released in the UK on 17th March and I’ll have my fingers poised over my keyboard ready to book my cinema tickets!
In celebration of the release of the film, I was sent a Film Collection Belle Doll to review, along with a the Castle Friends Collection by HASBRO.
I already own a number of Disney Beauty and the Beast dolls, including the original Belle. I have seen a lot of negativity over the look of the new Belle doll which is based upon Emma Watson, but I have to say that I like her new look.
Unlike the majority of female Disney dolls who tend to have soft, delicate features, the film collection Belle doll is more true to life and realistic. The photos of the doll online really don’t do her justice. Her facial features may be a bit harsher than your typical Disney doll, but she really is more natural. She even has freckles which our girls like very much!
I do think her head is a slightly strange shape and out of proportion to the rest of her body, but that still doesn’t take away from the fact that this doll is a thing of beauty and I know we’ll treasure her.
Her gown is just gorgeous! It’s so glamourous and sparkly! I love the gold thread detailing and embroidery on her skirt. The bodice is also amazingly detailed.
Her arms and legs are also articulated and she comes with a removable necklace. Her hair is half up, half down and is super soft to touch.
As mentioned above we were also sent the Castle Friends Collection Set by Hasbro. It includes five figures: Chip, Mrs Potts, Cogsworth, Lumiere and Plumette.
The characters are all based on the way they look in the new Beauty and the Beast film. Whilst Cogsworth still bears a resemblance to the original, the other characters don’t as much. Cogsworth to be is how I would imagine the original to look if he were real.
Mrs Potts and Chip appear more sophisticated and grown up. Chip still has his chip, even though he does appear less mischievous than the original. Mrs Potts also doesn’t seem as cheery as her original character. For all of that I still like them!
Lumiere and Plumette are interesting! Lumiere is darker in colour than I would have thought. I imagined he’d gold, but he’s more brown. He’s also bent backwards for some reason. Plumette doesn’t really have any character to her and she kind of reminds me of a fancy toilet brush rather than a saucy feather duster!
I think the new castle friends characters will grow on me! Overall though I am pleased with the doll and the Castle Friends Characters. They’re delightful additions to the Beauty and the Beast range and our girls seem to like them too!
