Another year older

Today is my birthday.

Yes, I’m another older, and even though I’m definitely not a teenager anymore, I still feel as though I am 18 years old!

I like to thin that I’m young at heart, but then again, I imagine a lot of other people do too.

I’m older, perhaps a little wiser, and yes, I have a few more lines around my eyes now than ever before, but thankfully the grey hairs haven’t arrived yet!

Looking back at my life, I’ve certainly had my ups and downs.

From losing mum at 18 years old to moving out of the family home at the same age and falling out with my dad for five years.

Through IVF, premature birth and redundancy.

It’s not been easy, but I like to think that I’ve come out of the other side of it as a better person. I’m not perfect. Nobody is, but I try my best to be kind, good to others and to be a good human being. That’s all we can ever be isn’t it.

I’m surrounded by wonderful family and friends. I love having a house full of people which is a common occurrence at this time of year!

Who knows what this year will hold?

I do, however, know that I’ll be heading into 2018 with a positive, can-do attitude.

I may be another year older, but as they say, life is what you make of it. You can surround yourself with positive people and experiences. You can strive to do the best that you can in every aspect of your life, but it’s important to remember that what really matters is being with family and being happy.

What do you think 2018 has in store for you? Do you have anything special planned? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
