AD| The perks of working from home
Working from home has always been a dream of mine. Long before Covid made an appearance, I dreamt of spending my days working from home instead of in an office.
Having spent most of my working life in an office, I never actually thought working from home would ever happen. When my children were born, I returned to work on a part-time basis in the office. While I enjoyed the company that working in an office provides, I must admit that working from home offers more in terms of flexibility.

Nowadays, I do work from home and it’s fantastic. I don’t have a long commute. I can take my children to school and pick them up. I can even squeeze in an early morning run before work because I don’t have to spend my morning rushing to get ready for work.
Gone are the days where I’d have to be up and out of the house by 7.30am in order to drive into town, park the car and walk to the office. My morning routine is somewhat different now.
I usually wake around 7am and after saying good morning to my husband and kids, I don my trainers and go for a run. When I get back home, I have some breakfast, hop in the shower and then sit down at my desk with a few minutes to spare before I start work with a hot cup of coffee to hand.
That’s the great thing about working from home. I can sit there in my comfortable clothes, wet hair and no make up on!
Another perk of working from home is having a home office. I really like my little working space because it’s exactly that. It’s mine. My space to focus on what I have to do that day. I have my desk calendar sitting on my desk alongside my personalised mouse mats.
That’s the great thing about having my own home office. I can really make it my own. Wanapix is one of the leading personalisation companies in Europe. They have lots of greats products that can help you personalise your home office. From mouse mats to notebooks, to personalised pens and diaries!
On hot days, I even have my mini desk fan on or I can just open the window. It’s really lovely. Working from home definitely has its perks. For example, I woke up one morning with absolutely awful stomach cramps. I think it was something I ate. If I had to go into an office that day, I would have definitely called in sick. However, because I could work in comfort in my own home, at my own pace, I was able to do just that.
It’s also been a lifesaver when it comes to childcare. Both of our girls have been unwell the last few weeks. If I was working in an office, I would have had to have taken almost two weeks off work for childcare. Thankfully because I work from home, I didn’t need to do that. I could continue to work while my girls were in the same room as me.
Looking to the future, I do see myself returning to an office one day. I do like the working environment in an office and it is nice to work alongside real humans instead of speaking to them via email!
