AD| Growing up – A passage of time

Life is a funny thing isn’t it. Some people breeze through it with ease while others struggle at every turn. Many people wonder what is the meaning of life? After all, we’re all heading for the same destination ultimately. What matters most though, in my opinion, is what we do in between.
I’d like to think I’ve achieved some good in my life. I try to be a good human being. To be kind, considerate and patient. I like to think my husband and I are raising our children to be the same way too. Leading by example is the best way to do this.
Whether it be showing kindness to someone or leading a healthy lifestyle. It’s that old adage isn’t it. Monkey see, monkey do. As funny as that sounds, it really is true.
Since having children 10 years ago, my children have seen me raise thousands of pounds of charity, start and finish couch-to-5k and complete the London Marathon. We have a very open relationship which I hope continues forever.
Our twins will be 11 years old next year and I couldn’t be any prouder of the wonderful human beings they are. That’s not to say they’re perfect. Nobody is. We all have our faults and mistakes. It’s what we learn from those mistakes that teach us the most.
11 is a funny age. Not quite an adult but grown up enough to talk back! For their 11th birthday, our twins have suggested they’d like a disco with their friends which I think is a lovely idea. I remember having a similar birthday party when I was a child.
It makes me really happy knowing that they know exactly what kind of party they’d like because ultimately, it’s one less thing for me to think about!
At 11 years old, I am struggling to think of what presents to buy them. They’ve grown out of a lot of things and likewise, are too old for some of the usual presents I’d buy them. It’s given me some great ideas and inspiration such as a slime kit which is definitely fun for all ages. I also really like the idea of Wicked Uncle’s glow in the dark face and body paint kit, especially as I have found an entertainment company who have ‘glow discos’. Can you imagine their friends faces when the turn up with glow in the dark face and body paint on! It would definitely be a party to remember!
My twins 11th birthday isn’t until early next year, but I like to be organised and I definitely feel a bit more organised. I like to prepare and book things in advance with plenty of notice. I do wonder when they’ll stop wanting parties. Hopefully, they’ll have a few more yet!
