Oh my goodness me. I can’t believe I actually managed to convince my husband to take part in a 2k family fun run with me and our five year old twins, but I did!
My husband is the type of person who drives to the shops when he could walk it in five minutes. He always moans when we go to pick our girls up together as I’d rather walk and stop off at the park on the way home. If my husband had it his way, we’d go in the car, pick them up and return home straight away!

I love walking and being outdoors! The fresh air helps to wake me up and give me new energy, plus it’s great exercise and better for the environment! Not only that, but our girls love walking and being outdoors too. They’re always asking to play in the garden or go to the park. I think by ditching the car and walking, we’re being good role models for them and hopefully encouraging them to lead active lives themselves.
Anyway, back to the fun run!
Since last year I’ve well and truly caught the running bug! Our girls know that I go running and quite often they’ll ask to come with. We’ll run around the block or up the road. They love it!
After my last run, which was my first ever 10k, the girls said that they’d like to do a run too. I have to say that the girls absolutely loved it!
The 2k family fun run started at 10am on a Sunday morning – hubby was delighted!
As the race kicked off, we clasped hands and made our way out of the starting pen. 0.5k in, I heard my husband saying that his legs were aching, but he powered through!
The girls did amazingly! They ran the majority of the way and even got to high five two policemen which they thought was great!
As we raced towards the finish line with big smiles on our faces, I think it’s fair to say that we all felt a sense of accomplishment.
The girls love their new medals and have a special box each in their bedroom to store them in, along with their race bibs. I’m so proud of them and of my husband! They all did so well and now I can’t wait for our next one!
