Butterfly Ball at Pughs Garden Centre

When one of my friends suggested we visit Pughs Garden Centre in Radyr, Cardiff, for their butterfly ball, I jumped at the chance!

I’ve been to Pughs before, twice actually, for their Christmas experience – which is great by the way!

This time around we took part in some crafts, butterfly style!

This is an event we needed to book for, and tickets cost just £5 per child.

The butterfly ball workshop was inside a new wooden lodge, which I totally want in my back garden! It’d make a great sewing room!

Whilst we waited outside for everyone to arrive, a friendly member of staff kept the kids entertained with a bubble machine! 

Inside, the lodge was beautifully decorated!

There were three large wooden tables in the room with plenty of space for all of the children, and everything they needed to make their butterflies!

There was glue, glitter, pens, scissors and more! The event was really well organised and the lady made sure that there were enough scissors and glue sticks for all the children.

R and M started out by drawing faces on their butterflies and then the sticking and glitter fun began!

I’m glad I didn’t have to clean up afterwards! One of the joys of doing crafts like this away from the home!

R and M were so happy with their creations! They’re currently taking pride of place above their beds in their bedrooms!

As we left we were given a butterfly checklist, along with a pencil so that the kids could go on a butterfly hunt around the garden centre. They had to find all the pictures of the butterflies and tick them off their list.

They loved this! They were also given a sticker and butterfly information sheet.

My friends and all of our children then visited the cafe for a drink and bite to eat.

This was my first time visiting the cafe, and I was impressed! It was spacious, clean and the staff were friendly.

I liked that there was an outside area where you could sit too, but I think it would be great if they maybe added a play house or small play area for kids as there’s definitely enough room for this!

Overall, we had a great time and I can’t wait to book another summer workshop at Pughs!
