Bethemed Designs Review

September 6, 2012
Personalised, hand painted wooden name blocks
It was like Christmas in our house today! The lovely Beth over at Bethemed Designs gave me the opportunity to review some of her beautiful hand painted products.

Beth says:

“We are a family of 4. Myself, my husband and a daughter, Carys who has just turned 4 and son Ethan who will shortly be 3.

Bethemed Designs was born on a weekend in April this year that was spent decorating my kids bedrooms. I had a great time personalising their rooms by painting their names and illustrations on their walls. Carys wanted her name entwined with flowers and butterflies and bees. Ethan wanted a rocket, planes, the moon, the sun and clouds all around his name.

I previously worked in Investment banking but had already decided not to go back to this as the hours were too long. I wanted to be able to work the hours that suited us as a family and allowed me to spend as much time as possible with the kids. Around this time I was considering my options with regards to getting back to work as Ethan was due to join his sister at nursery 5 mornings a week in August. My husband simply looked at the walls and my silly grin and said “that’s what you should do”.

Since then Bethemed Designs has gone from strength to strength. I now do artwork on walls, canvas and many fabric and wooden accessories. I have also received requests to do wedding and engagement gifts and cards for adults which I thoroughly enjoyed doing.

The main theme of Bethemed Designs is ‘designing and creating artwork and accessories for the individual of any age, for any occasion.’ In other words if you want a special gift for anyone then just ask.”

Wooden Personalised Blocks

These wooden blocks are made from high quality solid Birch Wood and are produced in the UK. They are 5cm (2″) squares. Handpainted with durable acrylic paints and they cost £3.20 per block, which if you ask me is a brilliant price for the quality of the blocks.

Each block has two letters hand painted on, as well a different design on each side. The sun design is my favourite!
My favourite design of a Sun
The blocks have been carefully wrapped in pretty pink tissue paper and bubble wrap to protect them. The first thing I thought when I looked at the blocks was how well the designs had been painted on. You can really tell that Beth takes a lot of pride in her work.
Pretty Heart Design

When showing the girls the blocks ‘R’ really seemed to like this ladybug design. ‘R’ chews anything and everything but with this particular block she lay on her tummy and just stared at the red bug!

‘M’ on the other hand was more into this design of a butterfly and flower. I think the mix of light and dark colours captured her attention.

Cushion

This fabulous pink cushion is 14″ x 14″, 100% cotton and handmade in the UK. It has been hand painted with fabric paint and is washable on a gentle wash at 30 degrees.
I love this design of a princess on a swing, with the butterfly perched on top of the letter ‘R’, surrounded by little flowers.

It is very well made and beautifully painted. The design is flawless. I really cannot find any faults!

I also love this little caterpillar crawling along the letter ‘Y’ with a pretty white flower alongside.
This cushion is available in a variety of colours including pale pink, pale blue, red, yellow, royal blue, purple and natural. Best of all, it costs just £16.00.

Beth will shortly be working on her Christmas range which will include personalised Christmas decorations, Santa sacks and stockings. Personally, I can’t wait to see more of Beth’s creations.

For the purpose of this review, Beth sent me 1 set of wooden blocks and 1 cushion. After receiving the cushion and blocks, I will be placing an order with Beth for 2 more cushions and another set of wooden blocks!
