What’s your favourite style of armchair?

Last year my husband and I bought our first home. It was, and still is, a very exciting time for us. Having rented for 17 years, owning our own home still feels unreal!

The majority of our time renting was in unfurnished properties. This meant over those 17 years, we’d built up quite a collection of furniture. My favourite of which are my sofas. We’ve had them for 8 years and with regular deep cleans, they still look as good as the day we got them.

To me, furniture is a long-term investment. Look after it well, and they’ll last the test of time. Although, my sofas are my favourite piece of furniture, I am quite fond a good armchair.

Did you know, the most popular style of armchair is the recliner chair? According to data collected by Furniture Village, searches for recliner chairs saw a year on year increase of 4.25% (2020 vs 2021). From 2019, search has increased by 55%.

I don’t know if that says more about our lifestyles or our taste in our furniture! I’ll let you be the judge on that one!

For me, you can’t go wrong with a cuddle chair. Cuddle chairs are wonderfully versatile pieces of furniture. They’re bigger than a normal armchair but smaller than a sofa. As a mum, they’re perfect for snuggling up on with the kids, but also as an avid book reader, they’re spacious enough to curl up on with a good book!
