Chums, a privately owned home shopping company has recently created a campaign that looks at the different types of men’s trousers that can be worn and what impression they can help build. In the campaign, Chums, who sell a wide variety of men’s casual trousers, looked at corduroys, cargo trousers, chinos and formal trousers.

Corduroys
Often cut like jeans but made from twisted fibres or cords to create a raised pattern, corduroys are typically worn as casual wear during Autumn and Winter. These dapper trousers have long been considered casual wear but new interpretations of the material mean that they can be styled to create a more formal look.
The earliest version of this material originates from an Egyptian cotton weave known as ‘fustian’. The fabric soared in popularity during the Medieval period as Italian merchants sold the fabric to nobles throughout Western Europe.

Chinos
Chinos seem to have gained some popularity in recent years. Typically, these trousers do not have more than two or three pockets. Chinos are usually worn as a middle ground between formal and casual attire.
