AD| Vaping – Yay or Nay?

Within the past decade, electronic cigarettes and all their incarnations have exploded on the market. Nearly half of all high schoolers in America use these smoking devices now although, they need to be careful and be aware of vape detectors. Many people think electronic cigarettes, or “e-cigs” for short, are of a single entity, when in reality, there are many different kinds with different purposes to choose from. There are disposable e-cigs, rechargeable e-cigs, vapour “tanks” that hold a refillable tank of nicotine liquid. E-cigs can be used for both nicotine and cannabis products, but nicotine e-cigs are by far more accessible. They can be small and discreet or big and clunky. When it comes to choosing the right e-cig, a lot of it boils down to how often you smoke already and how much more or less you would like to smoke.
However, there are some e-cig components you can find in almost all different kinds. These are the battery, the heating element, and a place to hold the liquid. The heating element then heats this liquid into a vapour–also known as an aerosol–which is then inhaled by the user. This liquid contains the highly addictive component of nicotine, and it is this nicotine that gives users that familiar head rush and tingly feeling in their body. This tingly feeling comes from the spike in adrenaline and rise in blood pressure.
Of course, it may come unsurprising to know that e-cigs, much like traditional cigarettes, pose a health risk too. Heart diseases and heart attacks are not uncommon for heavy smokers, and nicotine can even affect fetal heart rate and development. These risks are why the Centers for Disease Control does not recommend any smoking for pregnant women.
However, this potential risk does little to deter the public, especially the younger generation. Some people are mystified as to why they have become so popular with teens. Still, Dr. Michael Blaha, director of clinical research at the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease, believes he can attribute the hype to three factors. E-cigs are cheaper to use than traditional cigarettes, the variety of liquid nicotine flavours to choose from is enticing to younger users, and most teenagers erroneously believe that smoking e-cigs is healthier for you than smoking traditional cigarettes.
While smoking e-cigs does have some health benefits, especially for traditional smokers who are looking to ease themselves out of their smoking habit. However, the bottom line is that it’s still far too early to determine whether or not smoking e-cigs is better for you than smoking traditional cigarettes.
However, e-cigs are probably not the best smoking cessation product (a product designed to help people quit smoking), as the FDA has not approved them for such uses. But for those looking to turn their smoking experience into something cheaper and more palatable, then e-cigs can be a great alternative to traditional cigarettes. GreyHaze can get you started with a smok vape kit designed to ease you into the sophisticated world of e-cigs.
