The impact of having premature twins and how pampers are helping #ad

Pampers Preemie Nappy

I’ve always known that I wanted to be a mum. When I was little I used to collect baby dolls and pretend that they were real. I’d put nappies on them, dress them up for the day and then change them into their pyjamas at night time. Most of them would ‘sleep’ at the foot of my bed, but I’d always make sure I cuddled one at night time. When I thought about being a mummy, I imagined pushing them in the swing at the park, giving them lots of cuddles and singing songs to them. As I grew older and… [Read More]

Help us help Bliss and CRUK

Last year my husband and I started our very own charity campaign. Our aim is to raise £1,000 for Cancer Research UK and £1,000 for Bliss, the baby charity. We’re so pleased that so far we have raised a total of £701.00. As well as asking friends, family and complete strangers to donate to these two great charities, we also organised a charity raffle and a children’s Christmas Party. Both were a huge success and helped to raise lots of money. So now we are back! We will be skydiving for these two amazing charities – hopefully this year! We… [Read More]

The cost of having a premature baby

For many parents the joy of welcoming a new baby into the world is a stress free, family orientated time, but what happens when your baby is born too soon? We always knew our twins would be born early, although I denied it for quite some time. Right up until the week before they were born it still hadn’t sunk in. From the very first scan we had we were told that one baby was measuring on the small side. The nurse told us to prepare ourselves for our next scan as we may lose the smaller baby. Those words… [Read More]

Charity Update

The last charity update I published was on the 11th of November. I thought I would post another little update now to let you all know how our fundraising efforts are going. If you don’t already know, Twin Daddy and I are trying to raise £2,000 for Cancer Research UK and another £2,000 for Bliss, the baby charity.  Both charities are very close to our hearts. In 2005, after a brave and long battle with ovarian cancer my mum passed away.  In 2012 our beautiful twin daughters were born six weeks early and spent 27 days in neonatal care.  For… [Read More]

World Prematurity Day: NICU Memories

I find it funny that certain things can remind you of a specific time in your life. A smell, a noise, an item of clothing or a picture. Our senses are a powerful thing and I’ve found lately that certain things trigger my memories from when our twins were in the NICU (Neo-natal intensive care unit).   A while back, Twin Daddy and I took our girls to hospital because they both had temperatures, weren’t eating and were being sick. A short while after being shown to the waiting room we were called to an office where a nurse took… [Read More]

Both charities are very close to our hearts. I have experienced the loss of my mum from ovarian cancer and our twins were born 6 weeks premature and as a result spent 27 days in special care. Our aim is to raise £2,000 per charity, so that’s a total of £4,000. We have a number of fundraising ideas bouncing around our heads and our current fundraiser is our charity raffle. We have over £500 worth of prizes… [Read More]

World Prematurity Day

Saturday, November 17th 2012 is World Prematurity Day.  Bliss, the charity for premature and special care babies needs your help to raise awareness of the 15 million babies who are born too soon each year.  This a cause very close to our hearts. Nobody can truly understand what it is like to have a baby, or in our case two babies, born prematurely unless you have been there and experienced it for yourself. It is heart wrenching, upsetting, very emotional, and so many other emotions.   Having a baby is one of the most precious, wonderful things in life.  Unfortunately,… [Read More]
