Keeping children entertained during the summer holidays can be challenging for many parents. We always find that the most enjoyable days out for our children are usually the free ones. It could be a trip to the local park, a bike ride, walk or even just playing games in your back garden with friends.
We’re very lucky that the area we live in has plenty of parks and lovely places to walk, but we also have some fabulous free places that are within driving distance.
For our ‘Fun in the sun day out’ we recently visited a free outdoor splash park with our children. It’s always a massive hit for both parents and children. It’s popular with parents because it’s free, and naturally the children just can’t get enough of running around the splash park, splashing one another, playing games and standing under the big bucket waiting for the water to fill up and tip the bucket of water onto them!
I always tend to bring a picnic with me as it’s cheaper than buying food there. Our picnic usually consists of sandwiches or wraps, snacks that won’t melt in the heat of the sun such as biscuits or fruit and I usually bring some ice packs with me to help keep the food fresh for longer. Of course, I also pack some treats for our girls too and these Swizzels sweets sure went down a treat with both children and adults!
The Swizzels towel also came in handy to sit on whilst the girls played, and after the girls came out of the splash park too!
