I’m pretty sure that the majority of the population has heard of Wallace & Gromit. Aardman, the world famous, four times Academy Award winning animation studio behind Wallace & Gromit are well known for their animations. From Shaun the Sheep to Chicken Run to Creature Comforts and of course, Wallace & Gromit.
As long-standing Wallace & Gromit fans we were very excited to hear that Carrot Productions have teamed up with Aardman to offer Wallace & Gromit: In Concert at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival online as part of the Festival. Filmed with a live orchestra comprising of some of the country’s finest musicians, Wallace & Gromit: In Concert at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is available online now until Monday 30th August. Wallace & Gromit: In Concert
Join everyone’s favourite dynamic duo for a special, family screening of The Wrong Trousers with live orchestra. Alongside an introduction to classic Aardman film clips – including Shaun the Sheep – accompanied by classical and popular music, watch as Wallace prepares to perform his Musical Marvel, My Concerto in Ee Lad with help from his faithful canine companion, Gromit… what could possibly go wrong?!
We reviewed the show online and absolutely loved it! The first half sees Wallace preparing to perform his musical masterpiece My Concerto in Ee Lad with help from his faithful companion, Gromit. The second half allows audiences to enjoy the all-time classic animation, The Wrong Trousers, with orchestral accompaniment.
We really like that orchestra members were dressed up with silly headgear such as chicken ‘combs’ and cheese!
The show itself is presented by Matthew Sharp, an internationally renowned musician, actor and performer. He really gave the performance his all and was enthusiastic and full of energy throughout.
At the start we watch Matthew have a conversation on the phone with Wallace. I thought this was really clever as we see Matthew on stage with Wallace on screen behind him conversing with one another. I also really enjoyed Matthew’s rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody.
The music was such a wonderful addition to the concert. It really helped to add an atmosphere of drama and at times, emotion. My girls (aged 9) didn’t take their eyes off the screen for even a minute. They really enjoyed the whole concert from start to end and I did too. It was fun, full of energy and just so enjoyable to watch. If you’re looking something to fun to watch with your children, I really recommend Wallace & Gromit: In Concert.
