Review: Taffy Mail – The UK’s Only American Sweet Subscription Box

I don’t usually encourage my children to eat sweets. Nor do I usually eat them myself, but when I recently saw an opportunity to review some American sweets, I couldn’t resist!

Taffy Mail is the UK’s only American sweet subscription box. Subscriptions start at £7.49 a month and go all the way up to £24.99 a month depending on what type of box you subscribe to. 

The way in which it works is pretty simple. 

First you’ll need to choose your subscription type, then enter your address and payment details. Subscriptions for Taffy Mail close on the 1st of every month. New subscriptions are then opened on the 2nd of every month. 

Taffy Mail curate a selection of awesome American sweets and treats to put in your Taffy Mail from Hersheys to Runts, plus there will also be some surprises added each month for you to try.

When your Taffy Mail box is ready, it’ll be posted out to you on or before the 15th of every month. Taffy Mail aim to have it delivered to your door within 3-5 working days.

I received my Taffy Box in the post and as you can see I got rather a lot.

I was super pleased with the way in which the items were packaged. There no was unnecessary plastic, just the products in a cardboard box with recyclable packaging. 

I received 18 products in total, although I do think the Squeeze Cheese is a pretty random addition to the box!

Straight away my seven year old twins wanted to delve in and try everything, as did my husband! 

Now before I begin, I will say the only downside for someone like me is that there doesn’t appear to be anywhere on the Taffy Mail website where you can specify any allergies you or the recipient (if sending as a gift) has. 

I have a nut allergy so I was unable to try four of the items. These were the Nutter Butter cookies, Reese’s Fast Break, Rocky Road and the Almond Joy bar. 

Aside from that, I loved everything else that was included in the box. I hadn’t heard of any of the products aside from the Rice Krispies Treats bar as we do have our own version of this in the UK.

My favourite product is the box of ‘APPLEHEAD’. These are pretty bright green round candies that are pretty sour, but they taste delicious!

The Mini Chips Ahoy cookies went down well with my girls! They taste pretty much the same as the Maryland Chocolate Chip cookies you can get here in the UK, although there weren’t very many in the packet!

All of us loved the can of ‘Big Red’. It’s a pretty intense shade of red and it’s so good! It really was delicious! After searching google for info about ‘Big Red’ I discovered that it’s a mixture of orange, lemon oils and the traditional vanilla that’s used in cream sodas. 

My husband in particular really enjoyed the strangely named ‘Swedish Fish’ mini candies. They’re shaped like little fish and come in four flavours: Pina Colada, Tropical Island, Beachy Punch and Passion Fruit.

Our twin girls tried the ‘Basket Balls’ bubblegum, but they weren’t keen on it! They did however like the Now and Later Extreme Sour Apple Soft Chews, DinoRex Xtra Sour sweets and the Sour Jacks.

The Hostess Cupcakes didn’t sound very appealing to me. The description on the packet read: Frosted orange flavoured cake with creamy filling. They were however, delicious, as were the Cheddar Fries and the Skor bar which is delicious milk chocolate with crisp butter toffee kind of like a Daim bar.

The Jiffy Pop Butter Flavoured Popcorn is lots of fun to make and eat! To make it you need to gently lift the tab on top and pull along the dotted line. On your hob, set the heat to medium and place it onto the heat. When the popcorn starts popping, shake it back and forth in a circular motion until the foil can expand no more – this should take around 2-5 minutes. You’ll know when the popcorn is done as the popcorn will stop ‘popping’. Serve immediately and enjoy! It’s the best popcorn I’ve ever tasted!

Overall I really like Taffy Mail. It’s a great way to discover some pretty tasty American sweets. I think it’s good value for money, but I do think there needs to be an option to disclose allergies.
