REVIEW: RED at Wales Millennium Centre

We love a good trip to the theatre so when we were offered tickets to see RED at the Wales Millennium Centre, we jumped at the chance! Tickets for RED are still available and can be purchased online here. It’s in Wales Millennium Centre until December 29th.

Inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, RED tells the story of two friends, Jones and Grimsby, who both work for the postal service. It’s Christmas Eve and they’re both eager to deliver all of their parcels so they can get home for Christmas.

They have one parcel left to deliver, but the problem is this parcel is addressed to The Cottage in the woods. The problem is that everyone has forgotten about the very existence of the woods. You see once upon a time, a little girl went into the woods and never returned.

Everyone assumed the wolves had eaten her so they set out to destroy the wolves. In doing so, the woods fell to ruin, no-one dared venture there again and they were soon forgotten about.

That is until Jones and Grimsby enter the woods to deliver the final parcel to The Cottage. Upon entering the woods they meet Peter. Peter is waiting for his friend to return from the woods. We soon learn that he’s been waiting a very long time for her return.

We follow their journey into the woods and embark on a hilarious journey! At times, it felt like I’d been abducted by aliens and transported to another planet. It was random and bonkers at times, but that’s what makes it so unique!

The audience, mainly the children, loved getting involved. RED is fairy-tale journey into the woods where trees whisper, strange creatures lurk and wolves run wild. It’s an enchanted misadventure with Grandma RED; a raucous old lady on a spirited mission to bring back forgotten stories.

The age guidance for RED is 7 years+. Tickets are just £10 per person!
