Pebble Organic Granny Square Blanket & Giraffe Cuddly Toys from Best Years

Pebble Organic Granny Square Blanket & Giraffe Cuddly Toys from Best Years

October 1, 2016

Finding gifts for babies over the festive season can be pretty challenging. You don’t want to buy something that they already have or worse something that will just sit and collect dust.

When buying for babies I try to think in terms of practicality, longevity and keepsakes. That’s where Best Years comes in. They’ve been specialising in making toys for over 10 years and claim to be the first people to introduce knitted dinosaurs to the world!

Who doesn’t love a knitted dinosaur?!

Knitted and crochet toys provide a feeling of home comfort and they’re a great alternative to the ubiquitous soft toys found all over the high street.

What’s even better is that Best Years are an ethical company and ethical sourcing is at the core of all their products.

Best Years have a great selection of gifts so you’re sure to find something perfect for your recipient. From cuddly toys to blankets, clothes and more!

As part of this review we were sent one Pebble Organic Granny Square Baby Blanket, along with two giraffe cuddly toys.

The blanket is a very reasonable £40. This fair trade, organic blanket was handmade in Bangladesh. It’s luxurious to both look at and touch.

I love the combination of colours. Pink, purple, orange and teal all work well together with the more creamy shades.

This crochet blanket is a really good size, 85cm x 95cm and it is super warm. So whether you’re using it to wrap baby up on a cold winters day or just to snuggle under in these chilly autumn nights, you won’t be disappointed.

It’s really good quality and also machine washable which is always a bonus!

The giraffe toys we received are also made from organic cotton. Available in soft purple or soft purple blue these cuties are just £19.50 each.

I love the colours as they’re bright and vibrant. I love colourful spots on their tummies and their cheeky little faces really are appealing!

Children are sure to love these soft and cuddly giraffes. They’re suitable from birth so would make a great ‘new baby’ gift along with the blanket.

Both the giraffe toys and the blanket are part of the Pebble Toys range. As mentioned above they’re made in Bangladesh, taking jobs out of Dhaka which means workers don’t have to leave their homes and families to find work.

Workers supplement their income by working for Pebble for as little or as much time as they want. This means that they take a big step away from poverty without having to compromise on their other commitments such as their house work and small holdings
The other positive thing is that making Pebble toys is very inclusive work. Kids and their grandparents congregate in the same place as the ladies work.

Overall, both the blanket and toys are really well made. I love that they’re organic and fair trade.

For the purpose of this review we were sent the above products. All views and opinions are 100% my own.

I’ve noticed crochet definitely seems to be making somewhat of a comeback lately. I think it looks much classier than other knitted items.

I’d love to be able to create something along those lines! It would be so perfect for gifts not just for babies, but for anyone that would appreciate anything hand made. They definitely seem like a good option, I may have to consider it for my friends baby’s first Christmas!

I think knitted toys are more quirky than mass produced shop toys and it’s a shame we don’t see them so often these days. When my two were small I was lucky enough to have a Grandparent who knitted some lovely toys and my Auntie, who was a seamstress, made some beautiful dolls.

The giraffes are really cute and would good on any child’s bed. And being safe for babies make them the perfect first soft toy too.
