How do I become a foster carer?
Every candidate will go through an assesment and recruitment process.
This will involve a number of checks and references being carried out along with preliminary visits and several meetings with you to capture a picture of your family life.
All of this is necessary to ensure that you ca undertake the complex demands of being a parent.
This process can take anything from 16-24 weeks.
Training
Prospective carers and their families will be expected to attend a residential training weekend, or a three day course held over a number of weeks, prior to their assesment going to panel.

    I think it takes an incredibly special family to foster children and I often think its something I'd love to do. I'm not sure I'd be able to keep up emotionally though x
