Why do people chose to foster a child?
Everyone individual, every family is different and so too are the reasons in which people decide to become foster carers.
Many people do so because they themselves have been looked after by a foster carer at some point in their lives, others do so simply because
Either way everyone who decides that they want become a foster carer have one main reason. To make a difference to the life of a child.


How do I become a foster carer?
Every candidate will go through an assesment and recruitment process.
This will involve a number of checks and references being carried out along with preliminary visits and several meetings with you to capture a picture of your family life.
All of this is necessary to ensure that you ca undertake the complex demands of being a parent.
This process can take anything from 16-24 weeks.
Training
Prospective carers and their families will be expected to attend a residential training weekend, or a three day course held over a number of weeks, prior to their assesment going to panel.

    I think it takes an incredibly special family to foster children and I often think its something I'd love to do. I'm not sure I'd be able to keep up emotionally though x
