Christmas Crafts with Baker Ross

Can you believe that Christmas is just four weeks away!

I know everyone probably says the same thing around this time of year, but this year really has just flown by!

In the run up to Christmas, our girls and I enjoy a bit of festive creativity and crafts. Baker Ross very kindly sent us some of their Christmas craft kits to try out a few years ago so I thought I’d re-share the post for some Christmas craft inspiration!

We received a box of Santa ceramic gnomes, a box of ceramic Christmas bell decorations, a wooden advent calendar, some porcelain pens, penguin and snowman baubles, a wreath decoration kit, Christmas elf door kit, angel colour-in decorations and a Christmas sequin craft kit.

R and M couldn’t wait to get started! First up we decided to make the angel decorations. There are 8 in a pack along with some gold string which is used to hang your angels from your Christmas tree or anywhere you want to put them.

The girls had lots of fun colouring their angels in and even decided to copy the design of the angels on the packet!

This is such a fun and simple craft that children of all ages can do. An adult is required for younger children, so that you can roll the angels into a cone shape and of course cut and tie the string to hang them up with.

Next up was the Christmas wreath and elf door kit. Both of these activities are lots of fun and very simple to do. They do come with an instruction leaflet, but it’s pretty self explanatory. By using the stickers provided, children can decorate their wreaths anyway they want to, and this is the same for the elf doors.

I think the elf doors are the girls favourites because they’ve stuck them to the wall in their bedroom. It’s also a bonus for me because I can tell them to be good because the elves are watching and reporting back to Santa!

We then decided to make the penguin baubles. Again, this is another great kit. You will need some PVA glue of your own to stick the penguins feet onto the bottom of the baubles, but all of the other parts such as the penguins faces and hats etc are stickers, so children can just peel and stick them themselves.

Next up we have the ceramic Santa and bell decorations. For the Santa decorations, the girls used a mixture of paint, which we already had, along with the porcelain pens.

To decorate the bells, the girls used the porcelain pens, which I have to say are amazing!

Whilst the girls were busy decorating their bells and painting their Santa decorations, I started to decorate the wooden advent calendar. I decided to copy the design on the box so after removing the drawers, I painted the front white and the back and sides red.

Whilst the tree was drying I then used the orange and green porcelain pens to colour in the front of some of the draws, and then used some red paint for the rest of the drawers. R and M enjoyed helping to colour and paint in the drawers too.

When the drawers were dry, I then used a gold paint pen that I already owned to write the numbers onto the drawers.

Overall, we’re very impressed with all of the Christmas craft kits from Baker Ross. I really like how simple they are because it means you can just open up the packet and let the kids get on with it without having to make or cut anything out first.
