Have you always wanted to be a mum?
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to have kids when I was older. I fell pregnant with my first at 16 years old, I never expected to fall pregnant so young, but it happened. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I now have three kids at the age of 24 and I’ve decided I don’t want anymore kids.

How did you feel when your children were born?
I knew I was a single mother the moment I fell pregnant with my first daughter. My Dad was a huge support, he helped me through everything. He was also my labour partner. My daughters Dad didn’t want to be there and in fact he didn’t bother with her at all until she was over 6 months old. I was petrified. I was young but I did it. I was over the moon when my first daughter, Mia, was born though. Just that love for one little person. It was just amazing. A special bond.
My second, Elliw, I was with my current partner. It was a whole new different situation. I had support off him, my baby’s Dad and so it was all new for me. The minute she was born, it was a whole new experience again. Being able to share that amazing moment with my daughters Dad, the person I love, was just amazing.
Our third is a boy and I felt that was hugely different. I always wanted a boy. Not that I love my girls any less. It felt like I had been waiting such a long time for my baby boy. When he was born, my partner was there too, his Dad. All I kept saying was ‘we have a boy! our baby boy!’. Again, it was just amazing.
I suffered with a liver disorder called Obstetric Cholestasis throughout all my pregnancies. I was petrified that I wasn’t going to have a healthy baby but I have been so lucky and all three are happy, healthy and amazing.
What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?
It may sound strange but I’ve had two complete strangers come up to me on a day out and tell me how well behaved my kids are. It makes me have so much more confidence in myself. Even if they had been playing up a few minutes before. But when I get compliments like that I feel like I must have done something right and I feel good in myself.

What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?
I think it has to be when Mia and Elliw say things out loud in public. I won’t repeat some of the things they have said as some may find it offensive and not take it the funny way but when they just come out with things, it’s pretty hard not to laugh (just a little!)
Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?
My eldest has suffered from chronic constipation since she was around 3 years old. She doesn’t have it as much now but she stops herself going to toilet, because she is just too lazy! She’s 7 years old and I find it so hard to still have to clean her. When she was a bit younger I would have to clean and change her 7-10 or more times a day. It’s not that bad now, mostly it’s once or twice a day. But she will get some good days where she is clean.
My middle, Elliw, she has a tantrum every single day. Many people have told me it’s a phase but this phase has gone on for over three years now. She just seems to like moaning, crying, screaming and throwing herself on the floor. I find it extremley hard to control her and I get so anxious taking her out in public by myself incase I can’t handle her.
My 8 month just hardly sleeps. His naps during the day are rubbish. He wakes up every 30 minutes – 1 hour during the night, sometimes every 2-3. It’s exhausting. I am in the middle of sleep training him at the moment, so hopefully in the next couple of months he will be different sleep wise. Crossing my fingers.
What are your dreams and hopes for your children?
I hope they have a totally different life from me. I want them to do what they want to do. I’d love it if they were interested in travelling. I want them to explore the world and see different ways of life. But, most of all I want them to be happy and do what makes them happy.
