Brilliant Mum Feature 171

August 29, 2019

Hello and welcome to the Brilliant Mum Feature. Once a week I will be featuring one mum in a bid to find out more about them and their lives.

If you’d like to take part in this series, simply fill in this form.

This week our brilliant mum feature is Zani from The Hilli Twins.

Zani is from South Africa. She says she married the love of her life in 2016, and January this year her family grew. Zani became a first time mum to beautiful fraternal twin girls. Since the girls was born she’s been a stay at home mum. Before that Zani was a language teacher at a primary school. In an attempt to share the wonderful and amazing experience of having twins, Zani has recently started a blog, The Hilli Twins. In her spare time she loves to crochet, sew, and read.

Thanks for taking part Zani.

Have you always wanted to be a mum?

Yes! As long as I can remember I dreamt about becoming a mom. I never thought that I would have twins though – that was a HUGE shock!

How did you feel when your children were born?

It truly was the most amazing day of my life. My girls were born by c section at 36 weeks and 4 days. I was super scared of having a c section, but the wonderful nurses and doctors at the hospital really made me feel at ease. One of my girls had some trouble breathing and had to be admitted to NICU. Luckily she only had to stay for four days. I have a new found respect for moms of NICU babies… I barely survived those four days, I respect and admire anyone that has gone through that!

What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?

There have been a lot of rewarding experiences, but by far my favourite is when my girls smiles and get all excited to see me!

What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?

Definitely when I took the girls for their 12 week checkup and one of them decided to pee all over the doctor… Obviously I was mortified when it happened, but had a good laugh about it with my husband once we got home.

Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?

One of my girls have colic. It has been really tough to cope with, but even more than that I hate how the other one doesn’t receive as much attention because of it. I’m entirely alone with them all day, so it has been though finding a balance.

What are your dreams and hopes for your children?

More than anything I want them to be happy beyond measure! I want them to marry the right person and feel loved. I want them to dream big. I hope that they know, now and always, that we will love them no matter what!

If you’ve been featured as a brilliant mum and would like to share this badge on your blog, please do!
