Brilliant Mum Feature 168

August 7, 2019

Hello and welcome to the Brilliant Mum Feature. Once a week I will be featuring one mum in a bid to find out more about them and their lives.

If you’d like to take part in this series, simply fill in this form.

This week our brilliant mum feature is Gemma from Hemingway Sisters.

Gemma is 29 years old and lives in Yorkshire. She’s currently a housewife with 4 children and is married. In her spare time Gemma studies, plays netball, enjoys reading, bike riding and playing video games.

Thanks for taking part Gemma!

Have you always wanted to be a mum?

When I was little I wanted 17 kids and now I have 4 and that is enough!

How did you feel when your children were born?

First birth was traumatic as I didn’t know what to expect – I had all the drugs going and my epidural didn’t work in one leg, but with forceps they got him out, with my second I did it all natural but the placenta didn’t come out, the third was a lovely water birth and the fourth was traumatic again because I was 2 weeks overdue and he just didn’t want to come out.

What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?

Just helping the kids learn, seeing them develop into little people, educating them and lots of cuddles.

What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?

When my son told me I couldn’t fit down the slide as my bum was too big.

Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?

Yes, sometimes my son tries to hard to fit in. For example he doesn’t like football but says he wants football cards and to play football games but I say just be yourself and people will like you for you, people can have different interests and still be friends.

What are your dreams and hopes for your children?

For them to be happy and be themselves not to do what they think is cool.
