Brilliant Mum Feature 166
Hello and welcome to the Brilliant Mum Feature. Once a week I will be featuring one mum in a bid to find out more about them and their lives.
If you’d like to take part in this series, simply fill in this form.

This week our brilliant mum feature is Claire who blogs at Red Kite Days.
Claire is 42 years old, married and says she has three crazy boys aged 2, 6 and 8. She lives in a village just north of Oxford. Her spare time is all about the family and they love to go out exploring. Claire says there’s so much on their doorstep and it wasn’t until she had kids that she really started being a tourist in my her own county.
Thanks for taking part Claire!
Have you always wanted to be a mum?
I always had a strong yearning to be a Mum. I did think I’d stop at 2 kids but there was room for one more!
How did you feel when your children were born?
I think I was a bit stunned when my first son was born. The labour seemed to take ages and suddenly I had this tiny little human to look after and no idea what to do. Number 2 was much easier. I left it to the last moment before I headed into hospital and he popped out not all after we arrived. Number 3 gave us a little scare. I had made a last minute decision to have a home birth (while in labour) but when the midwives arrived, my blood pressure had shot up and I was taken to hospital by ambulance. Luckily he popped out quickly too when we arrived and wasn’t born in the back of the ambulance.
What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?
It’s the little things which are most rewarding – the first time they say Mumma or I love you give you that really warm feeling inside. The first nativity almost made me cry!
What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?
Most of mine usually revolve around poo – there’s so much of it and I’ve been exploded on a number of times.
Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?
What are your dreams and hopes for your children?
Breastfeeding was difficult in the early days with my first and I found that stressful. Luckily I made a good friend who gave me lots of support.
