Brilliant Mum Feature 103

April 25, 2019

Hello and welcome to the Brilliant Mum Feature. Once a week I will be featuring one mum in a bid to find out more about them and their lives.

If you’d like to take part in this series, simply fill in this form.

Brilliant Mum Feature

This week our brilliant mum feature is Lauren who blogs on Facebook as Tribe of 5ive.

Lauren lives on the outskirts of Birmingham. She’s 32 years old and is a full time stay at home mum to Jack, 9, Abby, 6, Matilda, 3 and her 2 year old twins, Emmett and Sebastian. Lauren has been married to James for nearly 6 years although they’ve been together for 15 years (they met at work!). Lauren says she doesn’t have much spare time, but she likes to kickbox, eat out and catch up with friends when she can! She also loves a good shop and getting her nails done.

Thanks for taking part Lauren!

Have you always wanted to be a mum?

Yes, although I only ever wanted three.

How did you feel when your children were born?

Totally overwhelmed, but absolutely bursting with pride and love. Well, with my 1st three, who were all born well and at or just over term. My twins were born at 28 weeks 6 days by emergency c-section so was a totally different, petrifying situation.

What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?

Just being loved so much by this small army of people is all the reward il ever need.

What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?

Gosh every day with 5 children has its hilarious moments. I’ve endured the swearing in public, poo’s in pants at soft play, tantrums in shops, being called Lauren instead of Mum. The thing I find most funny is peoples reaction to me having 5 children.

Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?

Yes extremely. My twins were born critically ill due to Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) and spent 14 weeks in Neo-Natal Intensive Care and one spent a further 4 months in hospital thereafter. I had to try and juggle this unexpected and heart breaking situation whilst looking after my 3 other young children who were only 6, 3 and 11 months at the time.

Looking back I don’t know how I got through it. The guilt and separation anxiety I felt was horrendous, this was coupled with being totally physically and mentally drained. Glad to say we came through the other side and other than having several areas of delay my twins are doing amazingly well!

What are your dreams and hopes for your children?

Health, Courage and Happiness.
