AD| Exploring the UK in a Bailey of Bristol Motorhome
2021 is shaping up to be slightly more positive than 2020. With rumours in the UK of not having to go into any more lockdowns, many people are looking to the future and planning family trips away. Of course, normality hasn’t quite resumed itself so this means travelling within the UK. It’s important to note that you will need to ensure travel restrictions are lifted before you jump into your motorhomes!
Exploring the UK in a Motorhome
A few nights ago my husband and I were talking about where we’d like to go. Despite living in Wales, I’ve never travelled to Scotland or Ireland and it’s long been a dream of mine to visit. So what better way than to explore the UK than in style with a Bailey of Bristol motorhome. Of course, we could pack up the car and head straight to our chosen destination. However, I think a motorhome would make for a more enjoyable and relaxing trip. After all, you’d have everything you’d need right there without having to cram everything into your car boot!
When choosing a motorhome, the layout is really important. That’s why I’ve chosen the Alliance Silver Edition 76-4T motorhome. It’s 4 berth with 4 designated travelling seats. If you’re unsure what this means, let me explain. A berth is a bed space and a travel seat is a seat with a seatbelt. Motorhomes can sometimes have (for example) 2 travel seats but 4 berths. That would mean that only 2 people can travel in the motorhome but 4 can sleep in there. When purchasing a motorhome you would need to make sure that there are enough berths and travel seats for all the people who are going to regularly use the motorhome.
I really like that Alliance Silver Edition 76-4T has a separate bedroom at the rear which has two single beds. This room would be perfect for our twin girls. We could tuck them in comfortably in their own beds at the back and then my husband and I can make our own double bed up at the front that is built from the seating area you use during the day.

Important Things to Consider
When investing in a motorhome it’s important to know that some motorhomes have licence restrictions dependent on weight. If you passed your test after 1st Jan 1997, you are restricted to driving a motorhome that is 3500kg or less, unless you have taken an additional test to add the C1 category to your licence. Those who passed before this date automatically have the C1 entitlement and can drive a motorhome up to 7500kg.
