Plan UK work around the world in developing and third world countries to help improve the lives of the world’s poorest children.
They do this through building hospitals and schools, installing fresh water supplies and much more, using money provided through child sponsorship.
This year Plan are hoping to increase the number of child sponsors through a campaign called Give Up to Give Back.
They’re encouraging people to give up some of the small things in their lives that they could do without and re-invest the money they have saved in making a massive difference to a child’s life through child sponsorship. All it takes is £3.50 a week.
I’ve given up chocolate and tea in order a sponsor a child. This may not sound like much, but when you consider that I drink up to five cups of milky tea a day with two sugars in and a chocolate bar or two a day that cost easily adds up.
Using the money I will save from not buying chocolate, tea bags, sugar and from using less milk, I am donating £15 a month to sponsor a child.
