TV and Film Locations: Cardiff

Do you ever watch a show on TV and then realise that you recognise the location that it’s being filmed in? I quite like it when this happens as I like to guess where the familiar location is. This has happened to me quite a lot over the last few years. Usually it’s because it’s a holiday destination I’ve been to such as Rome or Spain, but when it’s your own hometown, it’s a pretty proud feeling! Living in Cardiff is really fantastic. We have lots of beautiful parks and tourist attractions. As such it’s no surprise to see the… [Read More]

I Completed the Cardiff Half Marathon!

I can’t believe I’m actually writing these words, let alone saying them out loud! On Sunday, October 1st 2017, I completed my first half marathon! When I first started taking running seriously, I never would have imagined that I could ever complete a half marathon. My goal was to just to be able to run 5k without stopping. When I reached my 5k goal, I set a new goal to run 10k without stopping. When I achieved that, and after taking part in a few 10k races, I knew it was time to set a new goal. To run a… [Read More]

My Happy Places

Sometimes when life gets a bit too much or you just feel like you need to take a little time out to relax and de-stress, people tend to go to their ‘happy place’. I have many different happy places. One of my favourite happy places is Roath Park in Cardiff. It’s not far from where I live and it’s one of my favourite running routes. Being able to take in the scenery of the lake, the lighthouse, and admire the swans and geese is one of my favourite past times. Another of my happy places is a soft play centre… [Read More]

Parent & Carer First Aid Class Review with Daisy First Aid

One Sunday afternoon whilst sitting in my front room surrounded by the noise of our girls playing, I came across a video on Facebook that had been shared by Daisy First Aid. The video showed a mum saving her daughter’s life with abdominal thrusts as the child was choking. Touch wood, our girls have never been in this situation, but I started thinking about how I would react in that same situation. The mum in the video had attended a first aid course. She remained calm and focused on what she needed to do in order to save her child’s… [Read More]

A day out in Cardiff Bay

Cardiff Bay has always been a favourite place of mine. I love watching the boats, wandering around the boutique shops and sitting back with an ice cream from Cadwalders whilst watching the world go by! Towards the end of May, during the bank holiday weekend, my husband and I decided to take our girls there for a day out. The sun was shining, we plastered the kids in sun cream and packed far more food and ‘essential things’ into our backpack than we actually needed! We arrived around 9.30am, and parked the car. We hadn’t realised that the car park… [Read More]

A morning at Roath Park Lake

Living in Cardiff is pretty cool. There are lots of interesting, magical and amazing places to visit and explore. One of those places is Roath Park. It’s a massive Victorian park with lake, botanic garden, adventure playground, cafe and sports facility. During half term earlier this month, I decided to take our girls there for the morning. They were due to visit Roath Park the following week with their nursery, but had been so excited in the run up to the trip, that I thought I’d take them too! Their school trip focused on the conservatory, which is home to… [Read More]

A morning of fun at Rhondda Heritage Park

The Rhondda Heritage Park in Trehafod, Pontypridd is one of the many cultural attractions you can find in South Wales. I remember many a school trip there when I was younger. It certainly makes for a fun and interesting day out for people of all ages.  You can go on a guided tour, explore the museum, enjoy a cuppa in the cafe or let the children loose in the Energy Zone Play Area. There’s also an art gallery. During the Easter holidays I took our twins to the Heritage Park for a morning of fun! It was my first return… [Read More]

Seven farms in and around Cardiff that you must visit!

Last year I made a list of all of the places I wanted to take our children during the warmer months. I managed to go to most of them, but there were a few that we didn’t make it to. This year I’m determined to visit the ones we missed, but also to return to the ones we loved last year. Without further ado, here is my 2016 summer days out bucket list, farm edition! CefnMably Cefn Mably holds some very fond memories for me. It was one of the very first farms that my husband and I took our… [Read More]
