Fun Festive Christmas Resources from Twinkl

I’m a big advocate for home learning. Why should the learning and fun stop when the kids leave school?

For that reason I absolutely love Twinkl. Twinkl is an online educational publishing house, producing teaching materials for children of all ages. You can get instant access to inspirational lesson plans, schemes of work, assessment, interactive activities, resource packs, PowerPoints, at teaching ideas!

However, with Christmas just five days away, I’ve been looking through their festive resources and thought I’d share them with you!

You can view their Christmas Primary Resources online here, and you can also find Welsh language resources here.

First up, I wanted to share this Foundation Phase Christmas Inference and Understanding Booklet. This fabulous activity booklet is a great festive way to assess a child’s understanding of their reading.

There are ten short, decodable pieces of text. Children must read a passage and draw an accurate picture of what has been described.

There are ten activity sheets in this pack. An example is picture below. As you can see, children can read the short paragraph and then use the space underneath to draw a picture of what was described.

Moving onto another fun festive activity, we have these reindeer paper chains! They’re so easy to make and children can help cut them out too! Just print them out, cut them into strips and glue together. This activity is lots of fun and children can proudly display their paper chain creations once finished.

Another section you can find on the Twinkl website is called Twinkl Originals. These are original stories written by the lovely people at Twinkl, along with resources to go with them.

This Ten Little Lights Ebook is perfect in the run up to Christmas. The woodland creatures have spotted an inviting light shining out across the snow… Wrap up warm and count along with the animals in their magical wintry landscape. You can also chose the right book for your child depending on their age as this is available in ‘Early Years’ and ‘Key Stage 1’.

As mentioned above, you can also find handy resources available for each story. The Ten Little Lights ebook have lots of resources available which compliments the book wonderfully.

Lastly, I wanted to share you some festive colouring pages! R and M, absolutely love to colour in and these Christmas themed colouring pages are the perfect way to spend a wet, wintry day!

  1. I’ve never heard of Twinkl before, but it looks like a lot of fun. My little boy would be too young for this, but I think my nephew would love them! Will definitely let them know about it. #ThatFridayLinky

  2. I use Twinkl in my job as a teacher… fact lots of teachers do as they have some great resources. You do have to pay a subscription but I use many of their resources so it’s worth it for me. I love that you have picked out the reading comprehension booklet! THAT is the one skill parents forget! Many parents believe that once their child can read, they need harder text but this is not so, understanding what you read is an entirely different skill and an important one too. Lovely review of a site I use a lot. Thanks for sharing. #thatfridaylinky
