Five easy ways to take the stress out of moving house

Moving house can be a stressful time. I know just how stressful it can be. I’ve moved three times in the last six years and each time has presented new and different problems.

Moving house with children in tow is also problematic as I’ve discovered on more than occasion. Here are some tips to help take the stress out of moving house.

Pack one room at a time

By packing each room one at a time, you can make unpacking when you move into your new home go a lot quicker. It means you won’t have to rifle through various boxes to find what goes in what room, as everything from one room will be packed together.

Label your boxes

Once you’ve packed each room, make sure you label the boxes with the room name on. For example, when you’ve packed your bedroom, label the box with ‘bedroom’. That way, when your boxes are unloaded you know what room to take them into straight away.

Find a good removal service

Finding a reliable removal service in London can be tricky, but The Man Van London can help. There are no hidden costs or VAT, plus you can hire one man plus a van for moving a small amount of items, or two or three man to make your house removal easier, and less stressful.

Declutter

Moving house is also a perfect opportunity to declutter and get rid of those items that you simply no longer use. You can put them in a separate box to take to the charity box.

Change your address

Change your address as soon as you can. Write a list of who you’ll need to update your address with such as doctors, employees, your bank etc. You can also use the Royal Mail’s redirect service to ensure that if you do forget to update your address with anyone, you’ll still receive your post.
