Do you remember what life was like before you had children?
I was browsing through some photos the other day of our life before our daughters were born and it brought back many wonderful memories!
I thought I would start a meme for all of us Mummy and Daddy’s so that we can remember the people we all were before our children were born.
Sometimes I think we forget that as well as being a Mummy or Daddy we’re also ourselves.
I’ve written a number of questions that I’ll be answering about what life was like before our daughters were born and toward the end of this post I’ll be tagging five other bloggers to answer the same questions and then those bloggers will need to tag another five bloggers in their posts and so on. Please link back to this post for the instructions and feel free to add pictures! The more pictures the better!
What is your favourite holiday destination and why?
We’ve been very fortunate in that we have been on a number of great holidays together. From Valencia to Barcelona, Rome to Marrakech and Prague! My favourite holiday destination though has to be Rome! Twin Daddy and I have been twice and the first time we went I fell in love with the place! The fountains, the history, the romance, the charm! I think I could quite happily in Rome, but I would love to explore other parts of Italy. It’s such a beautiful country and very scenic.
When we first went we visited all of the usual tourist attractions.
We made a lot of good memories there! I remember we were in a church in Rome and we’d both kind of wandered off in opposite directions. As I walked passed a confessional Twin Daddy appeared from inside! I had honestly never laughed so much in all my life!
I also remember one evening we were sat by the Trevi Fountain enjoying an ice cream each when a man approached the fountain with what looked like a fishing rod with a magnet attached to the end. The man was fishing as much money out as he could. He had two lookouts either side of the fountain and within a matter of minutes he’d collected quite a bit and then he was gone!
What’s your funniest memory pre-children?
Oh my, we’ve had some funny memories and not just from Rome!
Our very last holiday before our girls were born was Marrakech. We decided to be brave and walk to the Majorelle Garden instead of taking a taxi as it was only meant to be a short walk from where were staying.
As we made our way through the hustle and bustle, a woman was stood next to a wall. She started undressing from the waist down then crouched down up against a wall and proceeded to evacuate her bowels! At that moment we made a hasty retreat back the way we came and jumped in a taxi!
Another funny moment, probably one that you had to be there for was when we were in Valencia. We were in the Science Museum and we weren’t looking where we were going as we headed toward the escalators. We didn’t notice that we’d actually stepped onto the wrong elevator and in trying to go up to the next level we had walked onto the escalator that was bringing people back down! It took us a few seconds before we realised our mistake much to the delight of some passers-by!
What was your favourite thing to do in the evening?
After a long day at work I loved nothing more than just lying on the sofa with Twin Daddy. We’d quite often watch a film and just fall asleep there until the early hours.
When we weren’t lazing on the sofa you’d always find us in the cinema! That is the one thing I miss doing most! We would always go and see the latest film and have a hot dog each!
What hobbies do you have that you can no longer do?
It’s not really a hobby, more of something that I just enjoyed doing. I used to enjoy playing games on the Xbox and I haven’t done that once since our girls were born so I would have to say that!
Since having our girls and starting this blog, I have developed a few new hobbies though. I quite enjoy knitting and I’ve always been one to do crafty and creative things. I’m currently making a quilt each for our daughters from their old baby clothes. Tutorial coming soon!
What do you think you took for granted before having children?
I would definitely say we took for granted our time and freedom together. I think if I could go back in time I would probably have done more things and gone more places!
