A New Way to Play the Lottery
When I was 16 years old, my parents bought me a lottery ticket. Sadly, I didn’t win anything from it, but over the course of a few years, I would treat myself now and again to a lottery ticket in the hopes that I’d win big! Sadly, this hasn’t happened yet, but I’m sure I’ll keep trying now and again!
When I was asked to review Lottoland Online, I was curious to see what it was all about. With Lottoland you don’t actually play the lottery. Instead what you’re actually doing is making a bet on official lotteries draws. You’re basically betting on the outcome, specifically, which lottery balls, or numbers, will be drawn in those draws.
I’ve heard good things about the Irish Lottery so was keen to have a go on placing a bet. After creating my account, which was quick and easy, I looked at the options available to me. I could either place a ‘quick picks’ bet for £12 or I could choose my own numbers. I decided to choose my own numbers.
As someone who doesn’t bet very often, it was really useful to read what I needed to do on the screen. All I needed to do was choose six numbers, decide on what draw I wanted to bet on and for what duration, then place my bet.
I also noticed the US Powerball jackpot was £249 million, so I thought I’d have a go at that too, along with the Euromillions. The betting slips for all three of these were in the same format which made playing along easy. Now all I need to do is keep my fingers crossed for a win!
The way in which you win is that you pick the numbers that you think will be drawn and if you guess correctly, you will win prizes – usually in the form of cash. The size of the prize will depend on the number of balls you correctly guess.
You might wonder why you wouldn’t just buy a lottery ticket. Well, what Lottoland does is ‘far superior’ (their own words). They don’t sell physical tickets, so they’re not limited in the same way a normal lottery is. This means players can win huge jackpot amounts from across the world.
In addition to betting on the Irish Lottery, US Powerball and Euromillions, I played a few scratch cards too. I’ve always been partial to the odd scratch card and I actually won quite a few times too! The highest I won was £4 and the lowest was 50p!
Have you ever placed a bet on the lottery before? I’d love to know!
