A day in the life of a twin mum

It’s been quite some time since I first wrote my ‘A day in the life of a twin mum‘ post, so I thought it was about time I wrote another and shared with you what our day looks like. In my last post of this type our girls were 11 months old. They are now 19 months old so some things have changed a lot.

The first most noteable thing is that we have had a bit of a change around. Back in January, M would spend the night in bed with me and R would spend the night on the sofa with Twin Daddy. I think it’s important for me to point out here that we moved to our current home in December. A week before Christmas to be precise and this did have a huge impact on the girls sleeping habits. They needed more reassurance and they needed to feel secure in their new environment. This is one of the main reasons why our sleeping habits in January were the way they were.

I am happy to annouce that things have changed since then!

I hated that Twin Daddy was sleeping on the sofa, so I decided to take R off him. This meant that Twin Daddy would now have M in the bed with him. I sleep trained R and it’s really worked. I laid R in her cot awake and I laid one hand on her chest whilst I knelt by the side of her cot and I waited until she fell asleep. It took around an hour, but it worked!

Nowadays, R will have her milk in my lap and I’ll put her down in her cot asleep and she stays in her cot all night. She does wake now and again for me to pop her dummy back in, but that’s it!

M is still in bed with Twin Daddy and I, but at least we are both in the same bed now! Twin Daddy has started sleep training M and it’s working to an extent so we’ll just have to be patient!

Here is a run down of our typical day

6.30/7am: Girls wake up and have breakfast (banana porridge and toast)
7.30am: Bathtime
9am: Snack time (custard pot each)
12pm: Lunch time
12:15/12:30pm: Nap time
2pm: Wake girls up
4pm: Tea time
6:30pm: Milk time
7pm: Bed time

I work Mondays and Tuesdays, so Twin Daddy looks after the girls on a Monday and my dad on a Tuesday.

On Wednesday if the weather is nice I’ll take the girls to the park, but if it’s raining I tend to go to our local soft play centre.

On a Thursday we go to play group and on a Friday we go to music group.

I love being a mummy and our girls amaze me everyday. They’re getting more and more cheeky and more and more funny by the day. Obviously we have plenty of days where I just want to scream as the girls are having tantrums or fighting, but all in all they are pretty good.

Both are chatting away more than ever now and M loves to copy everything that R does!

I still can’t believe that they are nearly two! Wear has the time gone?!
